While mini-camcorders might not be the darling of CES 2010 this year, there's certainly some new releases to watch out for, starting with the new Kodak Playsport pocket HD camcorder.

As the follow up to the Kodak Zi8 and Zx1 pocket camcorders, the Playsport is a rugged mini-camcorder, but it tries not to sacrifice any style points.

The Playsport records full 1080p HD video clips at 30 fps as well as 5-megapixel HD stills (16:9, all viewable on the two-inch color LCD screen. All of that can be saved to SD/SDHC memory cards up to 32 GB, holding up to 10 hours of video.

Some other features to watch for include:

  • Waterproof up to 10 ft. (3 m)
  • Electronic image stabilization
  • Edit and upload to the Web with built-in software and USB cable (included)
  • Smart face tracking technology
  • Li-Ion rechargeable battery with in-camera charging
  • HDMI cable output (included)
  • Remote control compatible (sold separately)
  • MAC and PC compatible

The new Kodak pocket cam comes in Abyss, Wave Crash and Adrenaline Rush. (In English, that's black, blue and purple, respectively.) While available for pre-order now from Amazon, they'll start shipping in April for $149.95.
