Texas Hold ‘Em for iPod, coming to iPhone?
In a previous post I mentioned a few of my most anticipated (announced) iPhone applications, but what about the ones that weren't announced?

There are several iPhone applications that I'd love to see on the App Store that I haven't seen mentioned. Ideally they'd be free, but I'd definitely be willing to pay for them.

iPhone developers listen up! Here are some much-needed iPhone applications that someone's going to making a killing on.

Instant Messanging – Hello? Is anyone in Cupertino listening? We need an IM client for the iPhone right away. I know that AT&T is concerned about IM cannibalizing their SMS revenue, but iPhone isn't complete until it has a rich, integrated IM client. I'd like it to have presence (via GPS) and intelligent statuses like, "On the phone," "Reading email," "Listening to xxx," or "Driving 65MPH, can't chat!"

Texas Hold 'Em – I really want a slick Texas Hold 'Em game for iPhone like the one for the iPod (pictured). Sure, a few iPhone games have been announced, like Enigmo, Super Monkey Ball and Cro-Mag Rally but I prefer games that hone my skills at winning money. It needs to have standalone, networked and local/WiFi play options.

NFL – MLB already announced a baseball application for iPhone, I want the NFL version. It should allow you to follow a team or individual players (for the fantasy set) and include live scoring, stats and video highlights all in real time. Gimme!

Fuel Economy Tracker –It today's day and age of US$4/gallon gasoline and US$137/barrel oil, tracking fuel economy is more important than ever. The ideal iPhone application would tracking how many MPG my vehicle is getting at each fill up. It should also have simple notes to store maintenance records and reminders for things like oil changes, tire changes, rotations, etc.

Cheap Gas Finder – It would be great to use iPhone to find the cheapest gas near me. Obviously this should use the GPS features in the iPhone 3G to show me the closest and cheapest gas.

iPhone DJ – I want an iPhone application that I can DJ from. It should play tracks from my iTunes library and allow me to adjust the pitch and scratch a record directly on the touch screen (like Moo Cow Music's Band). This needs to be a serious DJ tool that would allow me to spin a set from two iPhones or iPod touches. Serato, Stanton, Ableton and Native Instruments should all be working on this!

Beautiful “Buff_by_bb” theme for The Spicy Chicken’s Customize application
Update:

Themes/Skinning – One of the best parts about having a jailbroken iPhone is being able to apply themes, skins and wallpaper – something Apple doesn't accommodate. Apple should either add a theme option in the settings or a third-party should create an application that does this on the new v.2 iPhones. I hope that Null River (creators of Installer.app) and Spicy Chicken (of Customize fame) are working on this now. What about you? What software would you like to see in the App Store?
