Not content with the recent release of their 43-in. curved computer monitor, NEC today announced its new MultiSync LCD2490WUXi² and LCD2490W2-BK-SV high-performance 24-in. desktop displays, intended for graphic arts, desktop publishing, photography, medical imaging and other professional applications.

Names just roll off the tongue, don't they?

The LCD2490WUXi² and LCD2490W2-BK-SV widescreen displays (true 16:10 aspect ratio) provide roughly the same work area as two smaller-sized displays, the company says, and include the following features:

  • 1900 by 1200 native resolution
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio
  • 320 cd/m² brightness
  • Standard color gamut ideal for sRGB applications (96.7% coverage of sRGB)
  • Auto luminance control with X-Light Pro backlight/sensor design for consistent brightness and color
  • ColorComp technology, which compensates for slight variations in luminance and color uniformity
  • IPS active matrix LCD offers wide viewing angles, deep blacks and accurate color reproduction
  • AmbiBright ambient light sensor and automatic backlight adjustment
  • Supports internal programmable 12-bit lookup tables for calibration
  • 4-way ergonomic stand with 150mm height-adjust, tilt, swivel and pivot

NEC didn't offer much information in the way of differentiating the two models, which will be available this month for $1,099 (LCD2490WUXi²) and $1,299 (LCD2490W2-BK-SV), respectively.

Both models ship with a 4-year parts and labor warranty, including backlight. (Pictured: NEC LCD2490WUXi²)
