NEC upsizes its green monitor offering
NEC Display Solutions of America hopes to prove that a monitor can be both ergonomically appealing (read, BIG) and eco-friendly.
The company's new 22-inch MultiSync E222W features both an ECO Mode, which makes it pretty simple to turn down the brightness at will, reducing power consumption and heat generation. The displays includes Intelligent Power Management software, which means you can set when it will switch over to a low-power or powered-off state. You can track how the use of these tools affects your carbon footprint, which is a nifty tool for reminding people of their individual impact on greenhouse gas emissions.
Other basic features that matter when you're choosing a monitor:
- 1680 x 1050 native resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio
- response time of 5ms
- 4-way ergonomic stand with tilt, swivel and pivot
- 5-setting dynamic video mode
Other check-items for the green buyer: the 22-inch monitor is compliant with the Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Silver specifications. It supposedly contains half the mercury content of comparable monitors and uses about 50 percent less power.
You can buy the MultiSync E222W come July when it ships with a retail price of $269.
