Oracle on Tuesday launched a application programming interface (API) and developer kit to accelerate data analytics on its SPARC processors.

The company said its Data Analytics Accelerator in SPARC chips will be made available via its Software in Silicon Developer Program, which includes code, test and validation tools.

By coupling its analytics code and silicon, Oracle is looking to boost the ecosystem for its 32-core SPARC M7 processor.

Oracle's Data Analytics Accelerator, or DAX, adds processing power to functions like scanning, extracting and translating. The SPARC M7 DAX provides a unit separated from compute cores to speed up processing.

Oracle's DAX is enabled for Database 12c and applications that run on it and includes decompressing for in-memory processing, cache efficiency tools and bandwidth capacity.
