As promised when the company announced its first camera to support the new micro Four Thirds standard that allows for SLR-esque features (such as  interchangeable lenses) in smaller cameras, Panasonic has just put out a press release to announce official pricing. The Lumix DMC-G1 will sell for $799.95 with a 14-45mm (28-90mm equivalent), f/3.5-5.6 kit lens when it ships in mid-November, putting it a lot closer in pricing to entry-level dSLRs like the Canon EOS XSi ($799.99) and EOS XS ($599.99) or Nikon D80 ($899.95) and D60 ($649.95) than high-end compact cameras like the Canon G10 ($499.95) or Panasonic's own Lumix DMC-LX3 ($499.95).

Panasonic also announced a retail price of $349.95 on a 45-200mm (90-400mm equivalent), f/4.0-5.6 telephoto lens for the camera which will ship in November as well.
