The CRM giant has inked a deal with Hewlett-Packard, giving Salesforce a new partner in powering its cloud while helping HP continue to elevate its enterprise arm.
Enter the "Salesforce Superpod," a dedicated instance in the Salesforce multi-tenant cloud, which will run on HP's Converged Infrastructure for enterprise data centers.
Both companies are being tasked with peddling Superpod to enterprise corporations, and it will be sold for an additional fee to existing Salesforce customers.
Naturally, HP will be the first Salesforce customer to be deployed on Superpod.
More details are promised for Tuesday when Salesforce.com CEO and chairman Marc Benioff takes the stage with guest HP CEO Meg Whitman during the morning keynote session at Dreamforce '13.
Earlier on Monday, Salesforce kicked off its annual sales and developer expo in its Bay Area hometown with the introduction of Salesforce1, a new stack consisting of a series of application programming interfaces (APIs) for the development of next-gen applications (particularly ones that could play into wearable tech) on the Salesforce platform.
The theme of app development continued throughout the morning as the AppExchange app store took center stage. Salesforce's AppExchange has generated more than $1 billion in revenue to date, and executives were already talking up how to get that number to $10 billion.
