Salesforce on Tuesday outlined plans to extend its Wave Analytics tools to channel partners of its customers.

Wave Analytics for Community Cloud is designed to extend data and analytics to a company's channel partners.

Given that many enterprises use a sales channel to drive sales, Saleforce said that it will now allow Wave Analytics dashboards to be embedded in partner sites and communities.

The move to support that channel is most likely to be welcome for companies that use resellers heavily. Enterprises in industries such as manufacturing, technology, consumer packaged goods and financial services rely on networks of resellers, distributors and brokers to move sales.

Jamie Domenici, vice president for the Wave Analytics Cloud, said many partners couldn't get the data securely from the companies they work with. The tool allows partners to benchmark their performance anonymously against others and garner insights to data.

"Everyone has some sort of indirect selling model used as an extension of a sales team," said Domenici.

Salesforce added that enterprises that depend on franchisees can also benefit by the analytics spread through the network.

Channel partners will have interactive summaries and historical trends and internal and third party data sets to explore. Wave for Community Cloud is generally available.
