LG has announced a new partnership with Sky TV, with Sky picking up 15,000 3D TV screens for live broadcasting at public venues across the United Kingdom.  Watching sports in a pub is about to get even more intense.

Starting this spring, the LG 3D screens will be distributed for broadcasting weekly Premier League matches. Basically, Sky is hoping to draw viewers into the 3D TV station they've been developing, and LG wants to boost their image in the TV display market.

Maybe this whole 3D trend does have a purpose. Watching intense sports in 3D brings a new, exciting element to the game. Although, having to wear 3D glasses in a public place (rather than in the darkness of a movie theater) doesn't sound appealing.
