Sony's PlayStation 3 is expected to be ready for 3D Blu-ray discs in October, but it should be geared up for 3D image viewing by the end of the month.

Thanks to Sony's new PlayMemories app, users will be able to view 3D images shot with 3D-compatible cameras on the PlayStation 3 and 3D-capable TVs. Some of those compatible Sony cameras include the pocket-sized Cyber-shot WX5 and Cyber-shot TX9, as well as the A55V and A33 in the DSLR category.

The free app is expected to be ready to download from the PlayStation Store by "late September," so it's really any day now.
