Update: Dell will buy IBM parts to take on Compaq

As reported earlier, Dell and IBM have announced a $16bn joint venture which, they say, is the largest IT agreement of its kind.

During the next seven years Dell will buy computer parts, including storage, networking and display technology from Big Blue as both companies move to take on industry heavyweight Compaq.
