Verizon debuts UMW190 global 3G modem for overseas data
Verizon takes another step toward global 3G data domination with the sleek UMW190 modem, which offers EV-DO Rev. A connectivity in the U.S. and EDGE abroad.

Verizon takes another step toward global 3G data domination with the sleek UMW190 modem, which offers EV-DO Rev. A connectivity in the U.S. and EDGE abroad.
The modem is USB powered and with a swivel-type port, has an external antenna connector and comes with the SIM card pre–installed for GlobalAccess service. It also offers auto–connect, 2–way Text Messaging, VPN and NDIS support.
Inside is a Qualcomm MSM 7625 chipset, while outside is a a 5-band integrated antenna and a 2-color LED status light. It's 1.4 ounces.
Connectivity is CDMA 1xEV–DO Rev. A/Rev. 0: 800/1900 MHz and GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.
The UMW190 is available now online (later this month in stores) for $49.99 with two-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate.
