in brief The Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a new chief information officer (CIO) to steer its ICT portfolio.

The position is being advertised after the former CIO Narelle Dotta left the department in September. Dotta is now acting general manager of the department, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The Department of Veterans' Affairs told ZDNet Australia today that the CIO will be responsible for implementing a shared services partnership, driving a major upgrade to its HR systems as well as re-platforming to reduce the number of legacy systems and support IT optimisation projects across the portfolio.

"The DVA ICT environment is complex with many ageing systems," the department said in a statement.
