Walmart, Best Buy gear up last-minute holiday shopping sales

As if there weren't enough days during the holiday season with adjectives before the name, now we have Super Saturday tomorrow. But this is your last weekend to shop before December 25, and Walmart and Best Buy are gearing up some big last-minute sales.

As if there weren't enough days during the holiday season with adjectives before the name, now we have Super Saturday tomorrow. But this is your last weekend to shop before December 25, and Walmart and Best Buy are gearing up some big last-minute sales.

Starting at 9PM tonight in respective time zones, Walmart is handing out big gift cards with a number of different toys and electronics. Examples include:

  • Nintendo Wii Console with $75 Gift Card
  • Samsung 32" 720p 60Hz LCD, LN32C350 with $50 Gift Card
  • PlayStation 3 160GB Console with $100 Gift Card
  • TomTom XL 335SE GPS Navigation System with $30 Gift Card

This promo is going on through Sunday and in stores only, so plan accordingly. Don't forget that Walmart is also offering free shipping on all electronics without a minimum purchase through December 20.

As for Best Buy, the last-minute deals are already underway and are valid through Saturday. Specials include:

    • Dynex 37" LCD HDTV - $349.99
    • 15% off Nintendo DS games
    • 8" Insignia digital photo frame with iPod dock - $49.99
    • Optoma DLP home theater projector - $179.99

Many of the promos are available online only, which might be good news for a lot of you who don't want to brave the crowds this weekend. (I sure don't want to go out there.) But if you want something shipped and delivered by December 25, all orders need to be in by December 21 at 11 AM ET.

Furthermore, Best Buy is continuing its month-long run of free smartphones (with a contract) everyday in December.
