Apple today announced that YouTube is now live on Apple TV:

Users can download the free software update using Apple TV’s built-in software update feature, and then easily navigate through YouTube’s familiar video browsing categories or search for specific videos. YouTube members can also log-in to their YouTube accounts on Apple TV to view and save their favorite videos.

GWhiz posted some digicam shots of the Apple TV update process (it's L O N G) and the YouTube Interface and offers this mini-review:

It just takes a while to pull the download down. The AppleTV will restart and then the goodies are available!

Opening sequence doesn’t appear to have been updated. If so, it’s subtle. The interface definitely has changed to accommodate the YouTube spot on deck... It says there are 11,500 videos available…

As I noted previously, YouTube videos will also be available at launch on the iPhone in EDGE or WiFi networks via a dedicated button on the main screen.

Update: Apple has added a flash demonstration of the YouTube/iPhone interface on a new iPhone page.
