Google Calendar down for some users

Google's popular Calendar service experienced a service outage Thursday.

There I was, innocently checking my schedule through Google Calendar to see what I had to do Thursday, when I saw a 'Server Error' page message. Excuse me!?

I soon found it wasn't just me. The Outages mailing list, which tracks critical internet infrastructure, was filled with Google Calendar outage reports. Reports were also quick to pop up on Twitter and other social networks.

By 9:47 am ET, Google's Apps Status page reported that Google Calendar was having a service disruption.

An hour later, Google reported: "We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 6/30/16, 11:30 am detailing when we expect to resolve the problem."

There was no update by then, but users are now beginning to report Google Calendar is working once more. In my own case, the service is up, and I'm late for an interview!

A few minutes after its last notice, Google reported: "Google Calendar service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change."

A Google representative has returned a ZDNet call and added that a "fix is in place" for Calendar.

Here's hoping that Google Calendar's fix is well on its way to all users.
