Weekend Gadget Watch: Samsung PL70

"A decent camera for the money"

Considering hitting the shops at the weekend? Looking for inspiration? Check out the latest in our series of gadget mini-reviews, courtesy of silicon.com's sister site CNET.co.uk, the home of technology reviews. For the full review and details, click on the link below.

    What is it:
12-megapixel compact with 5x wide-angle zoom and HD movies

    Typical price:
    £137.98 - £194.98

    We like:
5x wide-angle zoom; practical USB charging; neat design and controls

    We don't like:
HD movie quality not that good; disappointing Dual IS mode; weak continuous shooting

    The judgement:
The PL70's a decent camera for the money but it's a long way from perfect. The basic picture quality is fine and it's a decent camera to use, but not all of its features live up to their promise.
