A new feature for businesses using Facebook Pages will make it possible to link inboxes across Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram accounts. Facebook says the new inbox lets businesses reply to Facebook comments, visitor posts, reviews, messages, and Instagram comments from one dashboard by tapping on the specific content they want to answer.

For businesses with a significant social presence, the inbox should make for a more efficient workflow, since there will no longer be a need to toggle between platforms and accounts to respond to customers. By Facebook's own count, Pages alone are seeing nearly five billion comments, messages and visitor posts combined each month.

It also offers businesses a bit more insight into who is sending messages or posting Facebook comments, which could lead to more personalized interactions. Social media managers can peak into publicly available Facebook or Instagram profiles and see any previous interactions between the consumer and the business.

Facebook said the updated inbox will roll out to all users of its Pages Manager mobile app over the next few weeks. Over time, Facebook said it plans to add "additional engagement types to improve the speed and ease with which you see and respond to customer messages".
