In a bid to become a "pure IT company", IT services company UXC is consolidating its three infrastructure businesses into one under its UXC Connect banner.
The new UXC Connect brings Integ Group, XSI Data Solutions and UXC Connect into the one business from 1 July.
Currently, UXC Connect handles the implementation of communications gear, including mobility and video equipment. Integ manages cloud communications, contact centres and application delivery, while XSI handles datacentre and virtualisation operations. The merger will bring all of these business models together under the one name.
"We are aiming to be the number one Australian alternative to the big solutions providers," said Cris Nicolli, managing director of UXC.
Headed up by Ian Poole, CEO of Integ, the new UXC Connect has been four years in the making, boasting 650 staff and aiming for first-year revenues of $235 million.
"It's exciting to now be the largest Australian-owned ICT infrastructure solutions and services company. Our combined strength enables us to service large corporate and government organisations, and we will be particularly appealing to those who want to buy Australian," Poole said in a statement.
Poole and Nicolli said that the new UXC Connect business would make it simpler for customers to talk to the business and easier to offer a greater range of services. Nicolli added that while three businesses had been merged into one, there are no plans to make anyone redundant, and few staff had decided to leave on their own steam.
"We've only lost about three people we really didn't want to lose," Nicolli told a media briefing this morning.
The UXC Connect merger comes as the business continues to shed operations, with the company continuing to divest itself of its field solutions group and other business units that have been deemed as "non-core assets".
