Media support in Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn

Test files on the desktop
Hehehe - I like the like overlay on media files when you mouse over them :-)
OK, need a codec to play MP3 - but so far, so good!
Searching ...
Found some - cool! I'm going to try the GStreamer extra.
Hmmm, not sure what this legal mumbo jumbo means. I'm getting the feeling that this is sailing close to the wind in terms of legality - but since this is for research ;-)
Ready to go!
OK ...
Hey look! UAC on Ubuntu! ;-)
That was a fast download ...
Didn't take long to install either ...
Job done!
I can now play MP3 files! Cool!
Now to try the WMA ... this needs a codec too.
This time I'll bring in the GStreamer ffmpeg
More legal mumbo jumbo ...
Confirm the changes ...
And in the codec comes ...
... installing ...
And it's now done - WMA files are working.
OK, let's now try a QuickTime 7 test file ...
OK, there seems to be a GStreamer plugin for this too - cool!
Back to the legal stuff - this could make some people feel nervous ...
Confirm changes ...
Password time again ...
Files coming in ...
Done!
Uh-oh! Doesn't work ... hmmmm ...
Let's give Automatix a go ...
In it comes ...
Password ...
Installing ...
Took a few minutes but it installed without a hitch
More legal stuff ... I'm starting to feel like I need a lawyer!
Downloading info ... cool the way this happens automatically!
Automatix splash screen
Let's choose some stuff ... not sure what that NON-FREE stuff is but I want some!
More stuff ...
Lots of other cool stuff on offer, but I don't want to get distracted right now!!!
Downloading ... yawn, this took some time!
Still churning away ...
Job done ... problem is, the QuickTime file still won't run. Doh!!! Seems that you can't play QuickTime 7, only 6. Hmmm, leave that for another day ...
