This false-color composite image released last week by NASA shows the Cartwheel galaxy, which scientists believe may have collided with one of three others. Two of those three galaxies can be seen in this image to the bottom left of the ring, one as a neon blob and the other as a green spiral.
The image shows the Cartwheel galaxy as seen by the Galaxy Evolution Explorer in ultraviolet light (blue); the Hubble Space Telescope in visible light (green); the Spitzer Space Telescope in infrared (red); and the Chandra X-ray Observatory (purple).
