Nintendo's Game Boy Micro, a new mobile-phone-size game console, will launch in Japan on Sept. 13 with a price tag of 12,000 yen--just under $110. It will launch in the U.S. on Sept. 19 for $99.
Nintendo said it will launch the Micro in four colors in Japan--silver, purple, black and blue. The company called Micro the world's smallest console, measuring 4 inches wide, 2 inches long and 0.7 inches thin. It weighs 2.822 ounces, about 20 percent less than Apple Computer's iPod Mini music device.
Nintendo hopes to draw women and casual game players--those unwilling or unable to spend hours playing games--with the compact and stylish Micro, which comes in two colors, each with three custom faceplates.
