How to download everything from Angry Birds to business apps
Apple launched its Mac App Store last week with more than 1,000 free and paid-for apps for users to choose from. More than one million apps were downloaded in the first day.
The Mac App Store is available for Mac users running the Snow Leopard version of Apple OS X with the v10.6.6 software update.
Shown above is the Mac App Store homepage that users first see when they navigate to the App Store, highlighting some of the apps available. These include iPhoto, Autodesk and music-mixing software GarageBand.
App developers who submit their apps to the store set the price users must pay to download them and keep 70 per cent of sales revenues.

Once users have created their account, they sign in using their Apple ID and password. iTunes customers will be able to use the same log-in details they use to access the online music store.

Once logged in, users can see which paid-for and free apps have been downloaded the most, along with their user ratings and price.

If a user has a particular app in mind, they can search for it within the App Store interface. In this case, the user has searched for the Angry Birds game.

Users can also browse apps by categories, which include business, graphics and design, developer tools, education and news.

When the user has selected the app they want to download - in this case Evernote - the App Store takes you to an information page from where you can install the app.
