There are plenty of expensive cases available for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, see my full review, but there are also many affordable options. VRS Design has 14 models available for the Galaxy S8 Plus and I spent a few days with six of these models.
Prices range from $19.99 to $69.99 with various color options too.
If you want to enjoy the native color of your Galaxy S8 Plus while having improved grip and some protection then the Crystal Mixx may be your best option. It is priced at $24.99 and comes in clear or black.
The case adds very little weight or bulk to your S8 Plus with tactile buttons to activate everything.
The opening is large enough for the camera, flash, and fingerprint sensor.
The buttons stick out far enough to easily press.
Similar to the Crystal Mixx, VRS Design has the Crystal Bumper option. This TPU case is mostly clear with a highlight color strip around it to match your S8 Plus. I tested dark silver and satin silver cases, but may buy the orchid gray one to match my S8 Plus.
The Crystal Bumper is available now for $29.99.
You will immediately notice the Crystal Bumper is a bit thicker material on the back, evident by the opening around the camera and fingerprint sensor.
The case looks great and provides improved grip on your phone.
The fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S8 is hard to target, but a case like the Crystal Bumper helps you quickly and easily find the right spot.
The High Pro Shield case also comes in the five colors of the Galaxy S8 Plus. It is priced at $29.99 as well.
The case has met MIL-STD drop protection so is a good, light alternative to consider. The colored portion is the top of two layer for added protection.
The High Pro Shield has a cool brushed look on the back.
The colored frame piece is smooth and helps protect the device from drops.
There are ample openings in the bottom too.
I thought this was just a thicker variation of the other cases I was looking at. It turns out this is a wallet case for the Galaxy S8 Plus.
The Damda Glide series has a semi-automatic release mechanism on the back to reveal a door for a couple cards.
This case will be handy for my commuter pass and office access card. There is not enough room for credit cards or an ID, but with Samsung Pay who needs any of that?
The rear opening is deeper than on the other cases, but I haven't seen any impact on photo quality.
I don't use a folio case on my devices, but this Layered Dandy one seems like a good option for $34.99.
It comes in coffee brown, wine red, and black. I checked out the coffee brown one with my orchid gray S8 Plus.
Three card slots and a long pocket give you all the room you need to leave the wallet behind.
The leather clasp is magnetic and helps hold the front down onto your phone.
The rear opening lets you use your camera without compromise while also helping you target the fingerprint sensor.
Dark and light brown leather is present on this case.
The speaker, 3.5mm headset jack, and USB Type-C port are easily accessible from the bottom.
For some reason, the Simpli Mod style is my favorite of all VRS Design cases I have tried. I like the use of leather on the back, minimal size, and reasonable protection.
It is available in brown and black for $24.99 each.
The Simpli Mod case has openings on the bottom while some other cases have fully open bottoms.
Don't worry about missing out on your edge screen functionality. The case is designed to support the use of the edge panels too.
I think the leather and stitching on the back look stylish. There are ample side openings for the buttons too so very little size or weight, 1.13 ounces, is added to your device when you use this case.
