Checkmark gives you location-based reminders. You can either locate yourself via the GPS or by an address on a map, and then create a reminder based on those locations.

For example, when you get home, there might be a reminder telling you to take the bins out. You can also use a radius, so that you can be notified as you're approaching a location.

Telstra's 24x7 app allows you to monitor your usage, pay bills, see past bills and, for prepaid services, also check your balance. It was first released for iPad, but is now out on Android.

The TED Books app provides you with access to short, electronic books produced every two weeks by TED Conferences. You can also purchase the short (less than 20,000 words) books via subscription, which costs AU$14.99 per six months (giving you six books), or pay per book, at AU$2.99.

Westpac has released a new iPad application that it believes revamps the mobile-banking experience. It allows customers to use drag and drop to transfer funds. You can also swipe between accounts and filter payments from one list.

The official London 2012 results app provides you with news and results of the London Olympics, which runs from 25 July to 12 August. You can put events in your calendar, and see the biographies of all athletes, filtered by sport and country.

If you're setting up a set of surveillance cameras, this app will help you choose the right combination of security camera and lens. The app calculates field of view, angle of view and necessary focal length based on the object of interest, visual acuity index and target distance.
