Abiquo, the self described next generation cloud management software developer new to the US, has launched another update aimed at large multi-national enterprises and global service providers.

Abiquo 1.7, which is expected to ship in roughly 45 days, offers advanced business policy settings, more flexible resource allocation, tighter integration with VMWare's management tools and the ability to custom brand the software's GUI -- considered a nice feature for service providers.

The advanced business policy capabilities enable cloud managers to set, edit and manage global business policies that are executed without user intervention.

Here's what the Barcelona, Spain based company says about the benefits of its business policy features:

"Advanced Business Policy support adds the control layer to allow organizations to build a truly scalable cloud infrastructure embracing private, public and hybrid models ... with other cloud management tools, so-called policy typically provides only fixed best fit or first fit allocation models. Other decisions are left to the operator, or worse still are not controllable at all, leading to potential governance, security and compliance failures, as well as poor utilization, and failure to achieve expected cost savings."

"With Abiquo 1.7, organizations can allocate virtual resources based on multiple business and IT considerations including governance, security, compliance, affinity and cost - as well as a variety of utilization models," the company noted.

Version 1.7 also now offers a broader range of resource limits that can be applied at physical datacenter, virtual enterprise, and virtual datacenter levels in any combination, the company added.

The update also offers better integration with VMware’s vMotion, DRS and HA functionality.
