Solar collectors. Courtesy: Schott. A half-century old German solar company just had a record earnings year. And they could be on their way to another one in 2009. Despite the recession. Exxon, eat your hear out.
Schott Solar of Mainz, Gerrmany, just reported their annual earnings of over $50 million euros as sales grew 70% last year. Yes, they're still tiny by Exxon standards.
Schott makes both standard photovoltaic panels and equipment for concentrated solar thermal plants. Says the company's statement, "SCHOTT Solar AG envisages to boost production capacity further through the start-up and ramp up of additional production lines in both segments by the end of the fiscal year."
