'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?

ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.

When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.

ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.

During Walmart's New Rollbacks and More sales event, you can grab a smart TV with a large 50" display for a substantial discount.

The RCA smart 50" TV tends to retail for $399. However, while the event continues, this product is available while stocks last for only $178, a markdown of 55% and a saving of $221.

The 50" smart TV operates on WebOS and offers up to a 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) resolution. In addition, HDR boost improves the levels of contrast and clarity shown by the LED display and there is a 60Hz refresh rate. The OS includes apps for accessing streaming services including Netflix and Disney+ and the TV is voice-control compatible via ThinQ AI.

If this TV isn't big enough for you, you can also save over $1000 on a Sony 75" smart TV. Now available for $1298, the 75" TV set offers a full array LED 4K Ultra HD display, Dolby Vision, a contrast booster, and Bravia Core.

Walmart's October event, New Rollbacks and More, includes discounts on technology, accessories, home appliances, toys, clothing, and Christmas gifts. The US retailer's timing coincides with Amazon's upcoming new event, the Prime Early Access Sale

The Prime Day-like event has been launched to capitalize on the shopping season and, at the same time, entice consumers to sign up for a Prime membership. However, if you're interested in exploring both Walmart and Amazon's sale, you can sign up for a 30-day trial to access the latter.

Walmart's New Rollbacks and More sale ends on October 13 at 7 pm ET.
