Over the last decade home movie rentals have gone from small VCR movie rental shops to the latest offering, Roku's Netflix Player which allows you to view streaming video of movies or TV shows directly on your television.
The price is right, $99 for the player plus a monthly subscription fee that you'd be paying anyway for movie rentals. Plus, more than 10,000 movies and TV shows are available and it offers wired or Wi-Fi connections. But it's still a work in progress with video quality questions, no surround sound, and another box to clutter you media center.
For more information, read Larry Dignan's story and David Carnoy's review.

The Netflix Player allows you to connect to your TV set through component, s-video, or HDMI cables. But at this point, th video quality falls short of a DVD.

Oh joy, another remote. This one's so simple, it can hopefully be swallowed up by a larger one.
