When you think of RIM products you think of their BlackBerry phones. While at CTIA a couple of months ago, I learned that there are also several BlackBerry branded accessories designed to work with your RIM BlackBerry devices. I had the chance to chat with a product manager for a few audio accessories and am really looking forward to seeing the BlackBerry Bluetooth Visor Mount Speakerphone. In the meantime, I was sent a BlackBerry Premium Multimedia Headset to test out with a Curve 8900. This headset allows you to both listen to tunes and hold calls with your BlackBerry.
The Curve 8900 is comparable in size to the carrying pouch.
You can see there is a manual, carrying pouch, headset, earbud gel tips, and colored plates.
Black is installed by default, but you also get silver and red plates in the package that you can use. You can even mix and match the plates on your headset.
Three sizes of gel tips are provided in the package (small, medium, nad large).
The headset comes with a standard 3.5mm headset connector.
The plates slide up and off easily.
There is a red ring around the right earbud to make finding it easier.
The mic piece is on the left cable.
This clip is used to keep the headset cable from flying around as you walk with your headset on.
Here you can see the skip forward/backward buttons and the center play/pause button.
The BlackBerry label is on the back of the controller.
The volume can be set up or down using this longer controller on the back side.
Headset carrying pouch in closed zipper configuration.
A secure zipper keeps things closed up tight. You can see the pockets inside the case here.
The plates are easy to remove and actually have a very slight rattle when mounted.
The headset plugs right into the 3.5mm headset jack.
These two are about the same size.
