Aluminium box computing at a price...
Apple has refreshed its minimalist Mac Mini desktop PC.
The new Mini (shown above) is encased in a 1.4-inch-thick metal casing, carved from a single, solid block of aluminium.
The refreshed Mini has a faster graphic card - Nvidia GeForce 320M - than its predecessor and Apple claims graphics are now twice as speedy as the earlier generation.
On the front of the 7.7 x 7.7 x 1.4-inch device is a single slot for playing and burning CDs and DVDs.

The back of the device has more holes than a Swiss cheese, however, including four USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 800 port, and an SD card slot.
There's also an HDMI port and Mini DisplayPort for hooking the Mini up to an HDTV or digital display.

The bottom of the Mac Mini sports a black, circle-shaped removable panel designed to make manual memory upgrades easier.

Here's a close-up of the Mac Mini's interior. The device comes with 2GB or 4GB of memory, depending on price, but can be upgraded to accommodate 8GB.
The Mini runs Mac OS X Snow Leopard and packs either a 2.4GHz or 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor - costing either £649 or £929 respectively.
The more expensive Mini runs Snow Leopard Server, which Apple is targeting at SMEs.
