The National Basketball Association, working with Silicon Graphics, is setting out to create a digital archive of the entire filmed history of its games. To make that happen, technicians sitting courtside will mark NBA plays as they happen with data indicating what kind of play it was, where on the court it happened and a rating.
In the studio, technicians will be able to review highlights and use them as part of the NBA's TV offerings.
On the Web, fans will be able to access the giant archive going back as far as 60 years.
NBA TV Broadband will encapsulate the program, allowing fans to access video clips from today and throughout the league's history.
