XtremeMac and id America iPhone 4S case roundup

There are many case options for the Apple iPhone and in this gallery I take a look at four cases from XtremeMac and id America for the iPhone 4S. These cases have some unique design features and different levels of protection for your iPhone.
This photo shows the retail package for the black Gasket case.
Please visit my ZDNet Smartphones & Cell Phones article for details on each case and find out which one I prefer for daily use.
The back of the retail package shows the case on an iPhone, along with an image showing what is included inside.
As you can see, the Gasket case has a cool design modeling the head gasket on a vehicle.
There is a suede lining inside the Gasket case.
The inner lining is glued in place and in a few spots you can see where small pieces are installed to protect your iPhone. There are cutouts in the lining material for the openings in the case.
The black Gasket case looks great with a white iPhone 4S as it shows off the case with the contrasting colors.
The case secures to the iPhone with a small lip over the metal frame of the iPhone.
There are openings in the Gasket case for the ringer switch and volume buttons.
There are large openings on the back, including one that shows the Apple logo. You should install the included back clear protector to help protect your iPhone. Note there is a gap between the metal case and your iPhone due to the inner lining material. Unfortunately, the edges of these large openings are sharp and should be rounded off.
The id America Skyline comes in three different color options and as you can see here I was sent a white one to try out.
The back shows the case with an iPhone installed. It was great to see id America also include clear protectors for the front and back of the iPhone.
The included clear protectors are easy to install and offer decent screen and back protection. The clear protectors do not take away from the amazing iPhone display either. The openings in the back of the case are also shown here below the protectors.
With the white Skyline on my white iPhone you do not see much contrast with the back openings. There is a clear opening for the camera and flash too.
There is an opening on the upper left side for the ringer switch and volume buttons.
Here you can see how the case has a lip that wraps around the front of the iPhone 4S. This design actually lets you set your iPhone down face first and keep the display off of the surface.
The XtremeMac Microshield case comes in a retail package that lets you see the color of your selection. Here you can see the Bronze one was sent to check out.
The back of the retail package shows the case on an iPhone, but not necessarily the color of the one included in the retail package.
The Microshield inside is glossy black plastic that lets you easily insert your iPhone. There is no inner lining on this case and it fits up close to your iPhone.
The back of the case shows the opening for the camera and flash.
Rather than one long opening, there are actually two openings for the lock switch and volume buttons.
Like many cases, the top is open to allow full access to the 3.5mm headset jack and power button.
The bottom is also open for full access to the Apple connection port and speakers.
The XtremeMac Tuffwrap Shift retail case shows the color of the case and lets you touch the material through the case.
The back of the package shows how the color changing case looks with heat activation.
The case is a solid color throughout. It is durable and yet quite flexible too.
There is an opening in the back for the camera and flash. This opening is rounded as well.
Here you can see the case in hand with the material wrapping around to the front of the iPhone to hold it in place.
There is an opening on the upper left side for the ringer switch and volume buttons.
This photo shows the top and upper back. There is no opening for the power button, but rather an integrated piece that lets you press down to activate the power switch.
