Sticking to a promise it made earlier this year, cloud-based enterprise software vendor Infor is rolling out a new version of CloudSuite tailored to the fast-paced global fashion industry.

Infor outlined its industry-specific plan when it moved the CloudSuite platform to Amazon Web Services in March, and has since launched a bevy of CloudSuite versions geared toward various industry niches.

With the fashion incarnation, Infor is targeting small- to large-sized fashion, apparel, footwear, accessories, luxury goods and textile companies. Through a subscription-based delivery model from the cloud, Infor said users will gain access to industry-specific analytics through a unique user interface that utilizes ION, the company’s a purpose-built middleware, and Ming.le, Infor’s social collaboration engine.

Infor is touting benefits such as faster ROI and a reduced total cost of ownership with the new platform. The company also said it helps to simplify IT operations, as CloudSuite eliminates the need for on-premises IT infrastructure.

According to Bob McKee, industry strategy director of Fashion for Infor, the fashion industry has historically had to adapt quickly to fluctuations in pricing, consumer demand and regulations — requirements directly addressed by the latest CloudSuite version.

"Infor CloudSuite Fashion is a strategic asset to organizations operating in this industry because it delivers tools to better connect across different departments and locations, and helps to achieve business goals with a lower total cost of ownership," McKee said in a statement. "Infor's applications specialized for Fashion provide the functionality needed to better meet changing customer needs, more accurately manage value chain logistics and ultimately do daily tasks more efficiently."

Infor coupled the CloudSuite Fashion release with yet another niche-specific version. Also available starting today is the Infor CloudSuite Food & Beverage platform, which the company said is specially designed for process manufacturing customers byhelping them solve common challenges such as short-shelf life and ingredient variability.
