'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?

ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.

When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.

ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.

Walmart offers site-wide discounts on a variety of products year-round. The retailer can be an excellent resource for finding gifts, updating your home, or picking up popular gadgets. Clearance and flash deals are often featured, too, with toys, fashion, and electronics becoming available for rock-bottom prices.

How did we choose these Walmart deals?

Walmart is one of the top retailers in the US. You can expect the company to provide year-round bargains alongside seasonal offers and sales on days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Alongside the likes of Amazon, Best Buy, and Target, Walmart historically launches great deals on laptops, smartwatches, headphones, IoT home gadgets, and more. We chose our favorite deals based on:

  • Price: While looking for the best deals, we focused on products with an attractive discount. Additionally, we used price trackers to ensure that you are getting a great deal, removing any items that have been purposely price gouged in order to look like a deal.
  • Availability: ZDNET has included deals with good general availability and we have avoided deals when there are only a handful of products still in stock. However, stock levels may have changed since the time of publication.
  • Variety: We wanted to include a range of tech products and accessories, whether you're looking for a new iPad or a modern kitchen appliance. We also ensured our picks matched a variety of budgets.
  • Customer reviews: While we considered the best Walmart deals, we took a look at customer reviews and ratings to recommend the best deals and devices.

When will these deals expire?

Deals are subject to sell-out or expire at any time, though ZDNET remains committed to finding, sharing, and updating the best product deals for you to score the best savings. Our team of experts regularly checks in on the deals we share to ensure they are still live and obtainable. We're sorry if you've missed out on these deals, but don't fret -- we're constantly finding new chances to score savings and sharing them with you at ZDNET.com.

Does Walmart offer a program similar to Amazon Prime?

Up until recently, Walmart didn't. That changed in 2020 when Walmart began offering Walmart+. With plans starting at $12.95/month, you can access free deliveries, mobile scanning, fuel discounts, Paramount+, exclusive access to sales and discounts, and more.

Why did Walmart change its name?

Walmart was once known as Wal-Mart Stores. However, according to Walmart executives, the name changed to Walmart in 2017, "to better reflect our company's path to win the future of retail [...] and a bit about returning to the company's roots." When the first store opened in 1962, the original name was Walmart, although the organization was incorporated as Wal-Mart.
