New York Times reporter John Markoff responded to criticism from Kevin Mitnick, a hacker whose case and arrest he tracked closely in 1994 and 1995. "I stand by my reporting," said Markoff in a phone interview. "I am really disappointed that Kevin is not getting on with his life." Markoff wrote a July 4, 1994, piece that made the front page of the Times and that Mitnick claims has inaccuracies which convinced prosecutors to "exaggerate the amount of harm" his hacking did. Markoff denied the claims. Full story. (See: Read Mitnick's statement.) -- Robert Lemos, ZDNN.
