Office 2007 Compatibility Pack released

I'm in serious heads-down book writing mode but came up for air long enough to catch up on some RSS feeds and news before calling it a day and ran across the news that Microsoft has released a Compatibility Pack for  Office 2000, XP, and 2003 that lets those older versions open, edit, and save to the new XML file formats used in Office 2007.

It's a free download available in English, Japanese, French German, and Spanish and provides users of older Office versions to the following formats:

Word

• .docx—Microsoft Office Word 2007 document
• .docm—Microsoft Office Word 2007 macro-enabled document

 
PowerPoint

• .pptx—Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation
• .pptm—Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 macro-enabled presentation
• .potx—Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 template
• .potm—Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 macro-enabled template
• .ppsx—Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 show
• .ppsm—Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 macro-enabled show

Excel

• .xlsb—Microsoft Office Excel 2007 binary workbook
• .xlsx—Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbook
• .xlsm—Microsoft Office Excel 2007 macro-enabled workbook
