in brief Communications Minister Senator Helen Coonan today
released a national framework for the future of broadband in
Australia, dubbed the "Broadband Blueprint".
The document largely summarises the
broadband market in Australia, in addition to the current
regulatory regime and government initiatives at all levels to
enhance the availability of broadband.
However, it does not appear to propose any substantial new
government initiatives on broadband.
"Through the Broadband Blueprint, the Australian Government
has invited all tiers of government to participate in the
development of an implementation plan for investment in
next-generation broadband infrastructure," Coonan said in a
statement released this morning.
The document is available online.
