The firm's Pentium Pro-based Professional Workstation 5000 series is at the centre of a Compaq contract win under the terms of which it will supply 5,700 of the machines to UK-based investment bank BZW. The systems will run Windows NT and be used on trading floors and in general administration. The deal also includes 80 ProLiant 5000 servers.

Vesey Crichton, director of enterprise business at Compaq UK said the huge win represented "a tremendous vote of confidence in the abilities of the Professional Workstation as a tool for the financial sector."
