I watched as much of the Microsoft video about the Windows XP Embedded Standard product release as I could stand. I started skipping through it and tried to watch what might of been the highlights but to be honest it sucked. I already do Win XP Embedded so I don't need a freaking marketing video that was too d__n long by at least the 30 plus minutes it took out of my life.

The net result is that a XP Embedded Standard CTP on a DVD ISO is available to be downloaded. BFD. I am NOT going to use my home DSL bandwidth to download it. I've arranged with the IS (IT) department to schedule the download after hours at work this weekend. I hope it works the first time because I don't think I can stomach having to do it more than once.

I found the video to be insulting, annoying, and mostly devoid of any real value. I hope that the idiot who wrote the script gets canned. A a 2 or 3 paragraph email would have sufficed.

I am so glad I decided to drive to Dallas for the Intel presentation instead of connecting to the Web for that freaking bad presentation. 10 hours of driving around 18 wheelers was less torturous.

Hey Microsoft! Stop screwing around with the damn product name/identity for Windows XP Embedded! First there was SP1, then FP2007, then FP2008 CTP, then not. Now there is XP Embedded Standard. STOP IT! Tacking on more words onto a product makes it look like you're trying to sell the SOS in a new box! Stop it NOW.

(Think they will get the message? I don't.)
