New UPS for home offices, small biz comes with power-saving outlets

APC by Schneider Electric has extended its line of uninterruptible power supplies (UPSes) that come with power-saving outlets with the introduction of a model for home offices or small businesses.
The Back-UPS Pro series is sized to handle from 6 to 10 outlets, with a runtime of 92 minutes to 164 minutes in a power outage. The company estimates savings of up to $50 per year per UPS because of the power-savings outlets, which automatically power down stuff like monitors, speakers or printers when the computer attached to the master outlet is shut down or drifts off into sleep mode.
The UPS comes with an LCD panel for monitoring service alerts and has automatic voltage regulation (AVR) bypass capabilities. That means the UPS will help adjust the quality of the electricity being used by your technology during brownouts or situations where the voltage is lower than normal.
The APC Back-UPS Pro series is supposed to ship sometime before the end of the second quarter. The models carry suggested pricing of $129.99 to $249.99.
