    Motiv ring fitness tracker

    The Misfit shine was one of the first devices which slimmed down fitness tracking while keeping things fashionable, but now startup Motiv wants to take this further.

    Available in seven sizes, the Motiv ring, worn day or night, tracks your activity, calories burned, heart rate, and sleep patterns before sending this date to an accompanying iOS app. The $199 titanium ring, produced in rose gold and gray, can be used for roughly three to four days on a single charge.

    Samsung Galaxy A smartphone series

    Samsung used CES 2017 as a springboard to debut the new Galaxy A smartphone range which has been updated with a number of improvements.

    The device range, including the 5.7-inch A7, 5.2-inch A5 and 4.7-inch A3, feature new case colors, enhanced front and rear 16-megapixel cameras with a focus on low-light conditions and IP68 water and dust resistance for the first time.

    The entry-level range is available in Russia but will soon be coming to the global market.

    LG nano cell television sets

    The resolution of our television sets has come in leaps and bounds in the past decade, but now we have UHD, 4K and plasma for those deep-of-pocket, where next?

    LG believes "nano cell" technology is the way forward and revealed a new lineup of televisions based on this concept at CES 2017.

    The Super UHD sets, the SJ9500, SJ8500 and SJ8000, all feature nano cell technology which utilizes "uniformly-sized particles approximately one nanometer in diameter" in order to keep picture quality high no matter the viewing angle or lighting conditions.

    Lenovo debuted an improved version of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon at CES this year. The laptop, aimed at business professionals, is now smaller and lighter -- coming in at 2.5 pounds -- battery life of 15.5 hours, new Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C docks and a hat tip to security with a new IR camera with face recognition support for Windows Hello logon.

    Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 hybrid

    Dell's success with the XPS 13 has ramped up with the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 hybrid, debuted at CES 2017, which has added 360-degree functionality, giving users the option to use their device as a laptop, tent or tablet.

    Thinner and lighter than rival Microsoft's Surface Book, the 2-in-1 comes with a 3.2GHz Intel Core i5-7Y54 processor or a 3.6GHz Intel Core i7-7Y75 processor, Intel HD Graphics 615, up to 16GB RAM, and up to 1TB SSD storage.

    As virtual reality systems become cheaper and more open for mainstream use, Asus has begun developing PCs designed to cater for power-heavy VR applications.

    At CES 2017, the tech giant debuted the Asus VivoPC X, a compact PC able to support virtual reality. Available for $799, the VivoPC X is equipped with the latest 7th-generation Core i5 Kaby Lake silicon, an Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card, 8GB RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage.

    Revealed at CES 2017, QuirkLogic's Quila Connected e-writer is a 42-inch high-definition ePaper display which weighs only 22lbs. Once mounted, the display can be used to write on for up to 16 hours on a single charge, and with 16GB flash memory -- and the option to add more -- you can share your thoughts and writings with colleagues immediately for real-time content creation.

    The Acer Predator 21 X is a monster gaming rig which is only for the serious gamer with cash to burn.

    Priced at a whopping $8,999, the rig sports a 21-inch curved display with a 2,560x1,080 resolution (120GHz refresh rate), two Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs, Intel Core i7-7820HK (overclockable) CPU, four speakers and two subwoofers, mechanical keyboard and flip-over touchpad --which can be switched to a numberpad -- Nvidia G-Sync and eye tracking technologies.

    It's a mammoth PC which has a crazy price tag, especially when you consider you can build your own for a few thousand at the same specs, but it is still an intense machine.

    If you're on a budget but want a smartphone with decent camera capabilities, Huawei's Honor 6X, debuted at CES 2017, may be of interest.

    The $250 smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution IPS LCD display, HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core processor and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Encased in the aluminum chassis are 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual cameras on the back, alongside an 8-megapixel front facing camera. The mobile device has 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

    Chromebooks were also spotted at CES this year, including the Asus Flip C302, which has increased in size from 10 inches to 12.5 inches based on the original Flip.

    The $499 premium model, which also sports a 360-degree hinged 1,280x800 to 1,920x1,080 HD touchscreen display, comes with an Intel Core M 6Y30 Skylake CPU, 32GB of built-in storage and 4 GB RAM. The chromebook can also be upgraded with a Core M 6Y75 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB SSD storage.

    Unveiled at CES 2017, Toyota's Concept-i takes the connected car to the next level. The compact car has an inbuilt voice assistant, Yui, which responds to driver requests and makes some of its own -- such as changing the car's interior lighting or suggesting destination. In addition, the Concept-i features video feeds which eliminate blind spots and displays designed to keep the driver's eyes and attention on the road.
