Good cases for the iPhone 6 Plus (hands on)

The new iPhones have only been out for a few weeks and there are already so many cases available it can be hard to choose one. We’ve used the cases in this collection and find them all to be good fits for the slim iPhone 6 Plus.

They all provide modest protection against drops, although none are ruggedized. Most of the cases are slightly raised around the front to protect the iPhone screen.

While we only tested the cases with the iPhone 6 Plus, they're also available for the iPhone 6.

    i-Blason clear case

Clear cases are all the rage as they show off the design of the iPhone. This case from i-Blason is made out of material that is slightly rigid but with enough give to make putting it on and taking it off the iPhone 6 Plus very easy.

The single piece is totally clear and provides a secure grip for handling the iPhone.

It is available from Amazon for $17.99.

    Tech Armor Active Series

Tech Armor has a line of cases for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus; this simple case is designed for protection from drops. The polycarbonate back is available in several colors to match the iPhone.

It is available from Tech Armor for $19.95.

Those wanting a kickstand for the iPhone 6 Plus will find one on this case that also offers good protection for the phone. Its rigid back is made of polycarbonate and has a small metal kickstand for propping up the iPhone 6 Plus. This is useful for watching video on the big iPhone screen.

The corners of this case are designed for maximum protection against drops, as is the textured rubber that lines the inside.

The kickstand only supports the iPhone 6 Plus in landscape, so those wanting their big phone to stand tall should look at another case that appears later in this collection.

This case is available from Amazon for $20.99.

    Tech Armor FlexProtect

This case features a rigid clear back with a protective bumper available in clear or several colors. It offers a minimal amount of protection compared to other cases in this collection.

It is one of the lightest cases available for those wanting to keep the iPhone and case as light as possible.

It is available from Amazon for $14.95.

  • Apple Leather Case

    Apple Leather Case

This case is expensive as is typical of genuine Apple accessories, but it is made of fine leather that feels good in the hand. It provides a secure grip, and makes inserting and removing the iPhone easy due to the design.

Even though it's made of premium leather, this case is the thinnest and lightest of all the cases in this collection.

It is available from Apple for $49.00.

  • i-Blason Transformer

    i-Blason Transformer

This is one of the most versatile cases you will find for the iPhone 6 Plus. The slightly textured case is thin, and includes a kickstand that works in both portrait and landscape and a tiny holster for wearing the iPhone on the belt.

The holster rotates to let you carry the iPhone either horizontally or vertically, and has a spring-loaded clip that holds on a belt. The iPhone 6 Plus in the case is easy to snap into the holster and remove.

It is available from Amazon for $19.95.
